Carolina Bank CEO and President Bob Braswell, in a statement issued July 30, has announced that Hagan Barrett & Langley partner Alex Barrett has been elected Chairman of the Bank’s Board of Directors: “It is with great pleasure that I announce that J. Alexander S. Barrett was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Board. Alex has been a Board member since 2004 and chaired a number of committees.” Carolina Bank is headquartered in Greensboro and also has offices in High Point, Burlington, Asheboro and Winston Salem.
Barrett, who has been in private practice in Greensboro for over 25 years, credits his work in the banking industry very early in his career as influencing his decision to become a lawyer: “I was attracted by the work of lawyers managing the transactions, litigating cases and handling estate and trust issues.” For the past eight years he has been a partner with Hagan Barrett & Langley, a boutique firm he helped found that provides legal services to business leaders in the areas of business litigation, corporate, venture capital, mediation, real estate, employment and trusts and estates. His complex litigation work has long included handling commercial and fiduciary cases for banks and other financial institutions.
Barrett’s community involvement includes serving in the past as Chair of the Administrative Board of West Market Street United Methodist Church, and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Children’s Home, Inc. in Winston-Salem.
